The community centre wants to reduce waste. It can buy disposable cups for each event, or reusable cups that volunteers wash afterwards. Reusable cups cost more at first and require water for washing. Disposable cups need replacing and create more rubbish.
At a meeting, some volunteers worried about the extra work. Others suggested a washing rota so the task would be shared. The group decided to try reusable cups for a month and review the costs and work before making a permanent choice.
