A footbridge near Leena’s home closed for repairs. Her usual walk to the learning centre took ten minutes. The alternative route followed a busy road and took twice as long. Leena felt frustrated, but she left earlier the next day.
On the longer walk, she noticed a community garden she had never visited. A volunteer explained that anyone could help on Saturdays. Leena joined the group that weekend and learned how to grow herbs.
When the bridge reopened, she was glad to have her short route back. She still visited the garden on Saturdays. An inconvenient change had introduced her to something she valued.
