Future Perfect — Introduction and Verb Forms
Understand the time relationship and choose the required verb form.
Introduction
Look back from a future deadline at something that will be completed by then.
When and why
Completion before a deadline: I will have finished by Friday.
Before another future event: We will have cleaned the house before the guests arrive.
After before/by the time in these time clauses, normally use present simple, not will.
Formula
Subject + will have + V3
Required verb form
have + V3 — Will have works with every subject, including he/she/it.
Examples
We will have prepared dinner by six.
We will not have finished the cake by five.
Ask WH questions in this tense
WH + will + subject + have + V3 ...?
What will you have completed by Friday?
How many tasks will she have finished by six?
Choose what, where, when, why, which, whose or how for the information needed. How many asks about countable quantities; how much about amounts; how often about frequency; how long about duration. A subject question can keep normal order: Who works here? Do not add do just because a WH word appears.
